Baphomet - Realtime Fur Project

This is a real time fur project I've been working on for a few months. The presentation got away from me a bit in terms of the original plan of just doing the bust, but I'm pleased with the end result!

I've always quite enjoyed occult symbolism, and for this project I decided to tackle a take on the Sabbatic goat, Baphomet. I wanted to implement some human characteristics with ones from a goat (The lips and eye-lids in particular) to make the character come off as somewhat other and disturbing.
Instead of the original "Torch coming out of the head" look I opted for a flaming crown (With elements from the torch put into the crown itself)
I also tweaked the pose from the original Éliphas Lévi illustration (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baphomet#/media/File:Baphomet.png) to fit in a tighter composition.

Bakes were done in Marmoset. Presentation was done in Unreal Engine 4.24.
Bit of description of how the fur was achieved at the bottom. Might do a more extensive breakdown later.

Fire effect done using Unreal Particle system and a lot of colourful language.

The fur was baked down onto a single 4x2k tile, which was scaled down to half size for presentation.

The baked cards were organized into clumps for placement, with horizontal edges matching up for easy LOD reduction.

The alternate tongue-out pose that never quite made it in. Wanted to show the work on the tongue and teeth regardless though.
